The child on the cliff and other new For me, three stories stand out:
- Blood Orange (2nd prize) Alexis Spitsas, a Swiss 19.
- A certain idea of happiness (3rd prize) of the Cameroonian Lydiane Tsague Tsayem
- The strange case of the two loves of Jean-Baptiste Robert of Beauvais Clementine, a French girl of 20 years, distinguished by the Jury since 2010 and author of books for children.
micro-fictions but difficult to summarize all very significant because of their themes and narrative force.
I was not particularly excited about the rest of the collection. The new proposed do not simply match my personal tastes - I'm usually completely impervious to philosophical tales.
This year also the President of the Jury was Carole Martinez ( this may explain that) and was assisted, among others, David and Jean Rouaud Foenkinos.
This prize is awarded every year since 1985 to authors of Francophones aged 15 to 27 years. It recognizes new, short stories and was a fantastic springboard for Marie Darrieussecq (1988), Dominique Mainard (1991), Antoine Bello (1993) and Jean-Baptiste Del Amo (2006) to name a few.
